Spring 2012 Updates
Registration Update: Our online registration is scheduled to start on Feb. 15th. There will be forms available at the library starting Monday and we will get forms out to the schools next week as well.

A reminder of the changes for our players in grades 1-8. Starting this spring we will be holding an eight week soccer camp instead of the usual in-house games. Some of you may be wondering why the Board has decided to make this change and what the benefit will be for your child. We hope that as you read further you will see that our goal here is to give your children the best experience possible. Our Fall season will stay the same.

We will break the season down into eight Saturdays. The age groups will be split up according to the number of players. The training will be set up like a traditional camp where the players will cycle through a series of stations. At each station there will be multiple trainers that will work on a set of predetermined skills/games/teambuilding/exercises. The players will rotate when a set time expires. We will cover a wide array of skills along with many beneficial games that will challenge each and every player. The trainers will be made up of league coaches, high school players, and other adult/parent volunteers.

The benefit of this training is solely revolving around getting each and every player involved with an equal amount of attention and activity. This training will also give the players the chance to play with many different teammates and under different leadership. Each session will end with free play, where random teams will be made up and players will compete in some small sided (3v3, 4v4, 5v5) games. The great thing about the small sided games is that your child will get so many more touches on the ball and he/she will develop technical skill faster. The other great thing about these games is that they take the coaches out of the mix, as the player doesn't have to think as much about tactics on the field. This allows the players to concentrate on their basic skills in a smaller high pressure area. When this format is applied, the players feel freer to experiment and take chances. And the best thing is that every player on that field is involved and there is no more getting lost or left out on the big field or stuck in one position. The trainers are merely there for guidance, encouragement and to make their experience as fun as possible.

The Pre-K and KG program will run as usual (same as it did in the Fall) with games and practices.

All age groups need to select a T-shirt size (this is included in the cost of the registration).
